Goddess Durga is a form of Shakti and is believed to
be the deity of vengeance and victory. In Sanskrit Durga means as the
one who is indomitable and cannot be conquered. The origin of goddess
Durga is related to the terror of demon Mahishasura. It was to end this
demon that goddess Durga incarnated and received great weapons and
powers from all the gods. Many a times the goddess is hailed as the
mother of the Universe. Given below are few mantras dedicated to the
